  • Reply classmate’s post:

“Stress events include things such as the death of a family member, relationship turmoil, or even school difficulties. The three stress levels on the scale are (in order): low, moderate, and high. Stress can cause both physical and emotional symptoms, including acting impulsively, headaches, nausea, and general irrational behavior. This is supported in chapter 14 with “stress-related disease emerges, predominantly, out of the fact that we so often activate a physiological system” (Kanner, Coyne, Schaefer, & Lazarus, 1981; as cited in Spielman et al., 2020, Section 14.3 Stress and Illness, para 1). Coping can come in the form of overeating or engaging in substance abuse when someone is distressed.  The website recommends giving constant affirmations to someone experiencing stress-induced symptoms.
