The major effects that an employee not following a company’s social media policy can have on the employer and employee is damaging reputations. The reputation of the company as well as the employees and the other individuals involved are at risk. An impact or consequence that may occur for an employee who chooses to not follow a company’s social media policy is termination of employment. In the event that the employee is caught discussing confidential information based on a customer or patient, breach of confidentially laws is taken into account. Therefore, legal actions are another impact or consequence that can be yielded due to this negligence.
