Local Environmental Health Issues
Occupational health, unintentional injuries, and waste management are broad fields subject to local, state, national, and international approaches. In this Discussion, you investigate local events in each of these fields and the impact these events have on public health.
To prepare for this Discussion, read Chapters 12, 13, and 14 of the course text. Review the PowerPoint presentations and media presentation “Waste Management.” Review your local news media sources to identify one issue affecting your region in each of the following environmental health areas: occupational health, unintentional injury, and waste management. Consider how federal guidelines (i.e., EPA, OSHA) or laws affect the issue you identified.
