The intellectual biography should:
- Include the major questions/issues which the author/philosopher addressed
- Situate the author and work within “history of ideas” – see note on “history of ideas” below.
- Present metaphors that explain significance of the philosopher’s/author’s work for the study of Communication Ethics.
Your Intellectual Biography should work with the primary work – in this outline format; to include in 3-5 pages:
- Theoretical Contribution
– What is the thesis or main point or core idea of the work?
– What is the methodological/philosophical perspective or theoretical home of the essay?
- Basic Content
– List and define the major metaphors of the essay.
- Significance – What is the significance of this essay to the study of communication?
