In recent classes and readings we have seen how several types of government policy decisions impacted urban development and life in the middle of the twentieth century. Some of these policies include encouraging suburbanization, funding freeway construction, undertaking certain types of urban renewal, and funding particular types of antipoverty programs.

For this assignment, imagine you are a powerful policymaker in a city government or the federal government in the middle of the twentieth century. Choose one type of government policy about urban areas that you would change, and explain how and why. You may want to explain how you would answer criticism or resistance from voters.
