7. Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module you will be able to:

1. Examine and discuss the psychosocial impact of illnesses on the lives and health status of service users/carers, their formal and informal support networks and their communities.

2. Utilise and evaluate various strategies that enable individuals with altered health conditions to take control of their health and well-being including life style changes to promote effective coping and self-management skills.

3. Demonstrate an ability to use knowledge, evidence base and skills in the early recognition of deterioration and contribute appropriately to providing a safe environment, with reference to approved quality and risk management approaches in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
4. Explore and examine the effectiveness of local services and inter-agency working towards meeting the needs of user groups in the work setting.

5. Appraise and apply appropriate communication and interpersonal skills relevant to preventative and therapeutic care of users in the work setting.

6. Reflect on your personal performance and evaluate own contribution to collaborative teamwork as an Assistant Practitioner in today’s complex work setting.
