Field of Psychology Study Discussion

This week begins with the reading of the History of Psychology.  The reading provides a targeted overview of prominent individuals, and historical events, impacting the evolution of psychology as science.

This week we will each become historians of psychology.  Our goal for this week’s discussion is to gain a deeper understanding of the relevance the historical figures introduced in our readings play in the trajectory of its future.

Your Task:

1.  Main discussion post: After reading, or listening to, the History of Psychology, select one individual mentioned in the article that captured your attention.  Conduct research on that individual and write an essay.  In your essay clearly –

a.  reflect upon that person’s life and contributions to the field of psychology.

b. describe what that person did and the approximate time that this person lived.

c. evaluate what makes their contribution(s) important.

d.  explore criticism of their work or theoretical position.
