In whom or what do the characters in the text this week “root” themselves?
The Characters in this text “root” themselves in the Lord as their strength to overcome life’s obstacles.
In other words, in whom/what do they put their trust?
They put their trust in the Lord as they have observed His faithfulness throughout generations of those that have gone before. They have seen that a life that is lived studying scripture, fellowshipping with other believers, and serving or ministering to others creates a steady existence. Whom/what do they value? They value a moral and upright character as it brings a life that is pleasing to the heart and mind of Christ.
What are the fruits (or results) of that trust? The results of that trust is a life that is pleasing to the Lord and lived without regret, as being in God’s word and walking in fellowship with Him creates a life of stability.
Can you find a literary device in Psalm 1:3? If so, name the device and identify where it is in the verse.
I believe it would be personification and Simile, the psalmist states ”
“He is like a tree( Simile; as they are two unrelated species, Human and plant life)
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither. (Personification; as a tree is not human but provides insight into the mind of the psalmist desired effects of rooting himself in the word of God.)
In all that he does, he prospers.

The characters in this text put their trust in a higher power, because it is only one person that can lead your life where you stand strong in something and nothing can move you from your place. It is God that give you the strength to stand strong in all of our problems or situation.

One literary device I noticed was the simile, it can be found in the first line of psalm 1:3. It states” That person is LIKE a tree..” the comparison between a person and a tree. The sonnet goes on to explain in detail the similarities between the two things that differ drastically.
