Child Development Discussion

I’m working on a psychology discussion question and need guidance to help me learn.

Many people speak to babies in a particular way (e.g., high pitch, tone of voice, incorrect pronunciation, made-up words, etc.).  Why do you think people do this?  Based on what you have learned from infants’ sensory perception and language acquisition, what are the advantages and disadvantages to “baby talk”?  Do you think “baby talk” is beneficial or problematic for infants’ language development?  Explain your view.  Be sure to incorporate information from your chapter readings.
